Hope all of you and your families are keeping well by the Grace of Allah. We are keeping well Alhamdulillah.

Thought I'll share with you an excellent publication and a 3 part documentary in case you have not come across this already. The publication is called "1001 Inventions: Muslim Heritage in Our World" by Prof. Salim T S Al-Hassani, available for free download at the following link:

This book showcases the outstanding contributions that Muslim civilization has made to advancements in science and technology. Rarely is this part of ancient history given the recognition it deserves so it is very good to see an authoritative guide with contributions by distinguished scholars that has been endorsed by the British Association for the Advancement of Science. The hardcover version of this book costs about A$100 and I was surprised to find that it could be downloaded free so I thought I'll pass it on. The file is rather large (around 50Mb) as it contains extensive illustrations. 

The documentary called "Science and Islam" was aired some years ago by BBC Four and is hosted by Prof. Jim Al-Khalili, an Iraqi born British Scientist and Science Commentator who is the Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Surrey. The links to the videos are given below - the videos are rather lengthy (3 hrs in total) but the presentation is excellent, the content has been well researched making this a very informative and enlightening documentary. Some of the content may already be covered in the book.

Grand shaykh Abdullah al-Fa'iz Daghestani's handwritten taweez, for protection.

Names of the 313 messenger of Allah, hand-written by Sultan al-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani for protection and baraka.

Names of the seven Sleepers of the Cave "and their dog was the eighth."(18:22) for protection from being chased, war, fire, drowning,... as related by Ibn `Abbas (r):

"Inna asma`a Aŝĥabil Kahf tanfa` fee tis`a ashyaa: at-talabi wal-harb wa atfaul-hareeq..." "Surely the Names of the People of the Cave benefit in nine things: being chased down, war and they will put out fire..."  

For increasing love and tenderness between spouses.
