~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Taught man that which he knew not. [ Surah 96, The Clot (al- Alaq)]
“ Read in the Name of your Lord Who Created……….”
One of the meanings of this verse is that God is saying to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) to read using the Power of God’s Holy Name. More than saying, God is the Creator, is ordering Sayyidina Muhammad (s) to use God’s Power to read.
“I created creation from a clot.” The reference to the creation of people from a clot means that God is telling the Prophet (s) to read people at the genetic level. From the time of that revelation the Prophet (s) was able to read all huminity, past and future, at the genetic level. As Jibril (aw) was giving the revelation, God was showing the Prophet (s) the technology of the clot from which human beings were created.
The meaning of this verse is that the Prophet (s) can read even the microscopic details of sperm and egg, he can see at what time and at what moment they connected with each other, and the moment that Allah sent his spirit into the sperm and egg.”
“The One Who taught man by the Pen………….”
By the next verse God refers to His giving the Pen to Sayyidina Muhammad (s). God taught him with the Pen of Power. That Pen is not like one of our pen…It is not like the imitation device that we hold and call it a pen.
The Pen Power is the pen God ordered to write every action of human beings in The Preserved Tablet. [Al-Lawh al-Mafoudh , The Preserved Tablet; a heavenly record in which information about the destiny of all creation is written]. This reference to the Pen of the Preserved Tablet is also a proof of the surrah’s referring above to the transmission of knowledge regarding mankind and creation to the Prophet (s).
As to remember the message that was delivered to a man who was not able to read or write Arabic. So it is important to understand the word “Read” has much deeper implications than how we normally think of reading. The Arabic meaning of ‘read’ includes both the meaning of hearing and seeing. On that day when Prophet (s) received the revelation, God was showing the Prophet (s) all of creation from begining to end. And then telling him to “read” it.
God is saying, “Read the creation, O Muhammad (s) ! I have given you that creation –read everything in it. It is yours! Read everyone and all of creation. O Muhammad, read what I am showing you from creation!” Sayyidina Muhammad (s) was given the power to read much deeper than this. When God says to “Read, O Muhammad (s),” it means to read at the level of detail DNA. “I created them for you. Read them.”
With today’s technology everyone can be “read” and kept track of at any moment – for example, this cell phone here was just ringing, It knows where you are, because the phone traces you. Modern technology and cellular phones, and the internet, can read every message you send --- everything.
God continues, “… taught man that which he did not know.” The reference to “man” is not only a reference to mankind in general but actually a specific reference to Prophet Muhammad (s) --- God is saying, “ I taught Muhammad (s) what he did not know.”
Muhammad is the real Pen who wrote and learned directly from his Lord. He is not like us. There is a real fruit and plastic fruit. We are all like the plastic fruit. There are real scholars and plastic scholars. A plastic scholar learns letters, but cannot decode the tens of thousands of meanings hidden in every letter of Holy Qu’ran.
The Prophet Muhammad (s) perfectly understood and transcended all of the laws of this universe and the nature of every created thing, whether of metal or any other substance. At that moment he was shown and understood all existing and future technology, not just metaphorically, but in reality. He was given the understanding of all future technology that ordinary humans will never understand. But, God gave the Prophet Muhammad (s) the responsibility to read, observe, and learn about all of creation from beginning to end.
The Prophet’s (s) reach and knowledge is infinitely expanding, beyond the capacity of our minds and imagination. We have to open our eyes to his greatness. God order to “Read” and the implication of the order’s context , is that the Prophet (s) can read everything and those who inherit from the Prophet (s) can also read creation by virtue of the inheritance. The Holy Qu’ran is God’s Ancient Words that no one can fully understand, although wise men with clean hearts can see more of its secrets than ordinary people. So we begin reading hidden wavelengths with instruments, and then learn to read without them. Qu’ran referred to the importance of modern technology in its first revealed verse.
Modern technology, however, is only a shadow of the more powerful spiritual technology. It is by virtue of the secrets in spiritual technology that physical technology works. The Prophet (s) went on the Ascension (Miraaj) without needing physical technology to transport him – he went, body, and soul, without using any superficial power of today’s technology – but rather the spiritual technology that God gave him. Since this spiritual technology is better than the modern technology, Prophet Muhammad (s) can use this overwhelming spiritual and Heavenly power to read the hearts of people.
