The Blessings of Istighfaar, seeking forgiveness from Allah Ta`ala.
A man came into the company of Hasan Al-Basri and complained about a drought.
Hasan Al-Basri replied, "Seek forgiveness from Allah".
Another person came complaining about poverty.
Hasan Al-Basri said, "Seek forgiveness from Allah".
A third person came and said, "Make dua that Allah Ta`ala grants me offspring".
Hasan Al-Basri said, "Seek forgiveness from Allah Ta`ala".
A fourth person came complaining about the dryness of his orchard.
Hasan Al-Basri replied,"Seek forgiveness from Allah Ta`ala".
Thereafter, the people asked, "Four people came with four different problems, yet you gave the same reply".
Hasan Al-Basri replied that he has not given any reply by himself; rather,Allah Ta`ala Himself says:
"Pray to your Lord for your forgiveness; indeed, He is Very-Forgiving, and He will cause the heavens to rain upon you in abundance, and will help you with riches and sons, and will cause gardens to grow for you, and cause rivers to flow for you." ( The Holy Quran 71:10-12 )
